The Shadows son sin duda el más popular e influyente grupo Británico instrumental de todos los tiempos. Su carrera comenzó a finales de los años 50, como banda de acompañamiento de Cliff Richard y siempre llegaron a las listas de singles hasta bien entrada la década delos 80.
El guitarrista Hank Marvin es la inspiración reconocida de multitud de guitarristas entre los que se encuentran Mark Knopfler, Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Carlos Santana y Frank Zappa, entre otros. A lo largo de la última parte de su carrera, lanzaron muchas versiones instrumentales e interpretaciones de temas clásicos.
